Our observation of phase doubling in coherent matter-wave reactions provides the first experimental confirmation of nonlinear mixing theory for quantum degenerate chemical reactions. The violation of the Duan-Giedke-Cirac-Zoller inseparability criterion (1.2 +/- 0.15) provides evidence for continuous-variable entanglement between atomic and molecular populations. However, the measured value is close to the classical boundary of 1.0 and is substantially weaker than entanglement levels in photonic systems (DGCZ values of 3-5). The primary uncertainty source is atom number fluctuation in absorption imaging. We note that the entanglement signature should be interpreted as evidence for, rather than definitive demonstration of, quantum correlations in matter-wave reactions.
